Alice originally studied Classics and Philosophy, graduating with a Bachelor of Humanities from the University of Adelaide. Shortly afterward, Alice moved to Sydney to complete a Bachelor of Design at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney. After working briefly as a theatre designer in Sydney, Alice returned to the University of Adelaide and completed a Masters of Museum Studies and a Graduate Diploma in Art History.
Alice now lives in Melbourne and is a freelance illustrator. She works primarily in paper collage, using traditional cut and paste techniques, painting and preparing paper beforehand, before cutting and assembling it on watercolour paper or board to create highly detailed, intricate and textured illustrations. At times, Alice also incorporates digital design and media into her illustrative work.
Alice is passionate about creating playful and expressive illustrations for both children and adults that are rich in narrative, character and meaning. Her personal work frequently explores themes relating to nature, womanhood and mythology. Alice's aesthetic draws on diverse influences, including picture book illustrators from her childhood, Medieval and folkloric imagery as well as mid-century design and Modern art movements.
